January 1, 2000 Dear clients of Molly's in Home Pet Care, As the New Year and the new Millennium approach, I want to take this time to write to you all and let you know what is new here at In Home Pet Care. It has been over a year and a half since I left the Northwest Veterinary Hospital to start my own business, and I have thoroughly enjoyed this time working with all of you and your pets. When I started my business I had no idea how busy I would really be. Although I am thrilled for my success, I need to consider a few new policies that will help me to maintain my health, a quality family life and to continue doing a great job watching your pets! As you can imagine, I end up working long hours and many days in a row to care for all of your pets because vacations are always overlapping. Last year there were many months in which I did not have even a single day off from watching pets! In order to maintain my sanity and have time to spend with my family, I need to schedule some days off throughout the year now, or I will end up working every day again. I realize that this could potentially inconvenience some clients, but I hope that by scheduling my days off a year in advance, all of you will be able to plan your trips accordingly. I know that unexpected trips always come up, so dont panic!; give me a call when this happens and, if I am in town, I will do my best to accommodate you and your pet care needs. My scheduled days off will be: January 29, 30, March 3, 4, May 13, 14, June 23, 24, August 11, 12, 13, October 6, 7, 8, 9, November 10, 11. Holidays are a time to spend with family and friends, but they are also a very high travel time. Over the course of these past few years, I have not been able to spend these special days with my family. I don't mind watching pets at this time, and I realize that these are the times that my clients need me the most. I feel that I am offering a premium service, and as such I need to compensate myself for working on these days. I am implementing an additional fee of $5.00 per trip to your home on the main holidays of the year. The fee will only be applied to the actual holiday, not the whole vacation. The holidays that will accrue an extra $5.00 per visit are New Years Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Again, I hope you can understand my reasoning for this, and I hope it will not inconvenience any of you at all. Please remember that my time fills up quickly for all of the major holidays. In order for me to allow time to watch your pets over the holidays please call me at least three weeks in advance. Finally, as many of you know the phone line for my business is in my home. Occasionally I get calls to my home very early in the morning and very late at night. Please try to be courteous of my time and space and place your calls between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Any calls that I receive after 8 p.m. will be returned the following day. Thank you all so much for your understanding and helping to make my business a success. I started it out with no rules or structure at all, and quickly learned that I needed to have some guidelines for everyone to follow lest I lose control of my life completely!! I love what I do for all of you and hope that my services continue to help you all. If you ever have any questions, concerns or input please feel free to call or write. Wishing you all a happy and healthy New Year! Sincerely, your pet care provider, Molly Pastoral |
