Some notes from folks who were kind enough to drop us a line.

Fellini is a ten year old tuxedo cat and our only "child". As we were moving to Portland, we knew that we would need to find a new doctor, a new dentist, a new mechanic and most importantly someone to look after Fellini when we traveled. The first three were the easiest. I called several pet-sitters and none of them met the qualifications we had in mind. And then we found Molly Pastoral. Molly is organized, responsible, and professional. She keeps her commitments and loves animals. And most importantly Fellini loves her. We trust her to take care of him and come and go from our home when we are away.

Having found Molly turned out to be even more important after Fellini was diagnosed with diabetes. With her training as a veterinary technician, we knew she would be qualified to give him his insulin shots. Molly is the best!!!

Dear Molly,

We so enjoyed our time with you while Mom was away. When she came home, she couldn't believe how happy we were. It was the first time she didn't worry (as much - ha!) about us getting the love we're so used to. We told her how well you did pilling Ludwig twice a day. She couldn't believe when we told her Lucy let you brush her. I think she started to feel jealous. We know how much Mom loves us, but we look forward to our next visit from you because we love you already and it makes us feel good that Mom can go away and relax too. :)

Thanks for everything,
Ludwig & Lucy

Dear Molly,

I can not begin to express my gratitude for the care my babies got while I was away. You are a true blessing. I was most impressed with our initial meeting and how well you listened to me telling the story of Ludwig's health issues and how scared I was to leave. Your genuine concern and appreciation for the love I have for my kids completely put me at ease. I have NEVER returned from a trip with them so "themselves." It was like I had never been away. And yes, they're right when they say I was a bit jealous of how well they took to you...but I got over it quickly - HA!

I'm so glad we've met and I know I have someone to help me out again.

Molly began taking care of my two cats over ten years ago. Ten years ago there were only two cats, both of which are gone now, but in their place we’ve acquired six cats and in the last year two Corgi puppies. Molly has been the best thing that ever happened for a pet owner. She’s always been there to take care of all of them when we’re gone. I never worry about any of them when Molly is taking care of them because I know she watches them as closely as I do. If they begin to seem out of sorts she calls the vet or takes them in to be sure they’re OK. I get email reports when I’m away and notes are waiting to let me know what’s gone on when I get home. I’ve had to call on Molly to give medicine when I couldn’t get it into the cats and give fluids to several of the cats when we were away.

Now that we have the puppies I ask her to come and take them out and play with them when I have to be away more than three or four hours. They love to see her come and sometimes she brings her dog Siegy (at my request) so the little guys can really play and get rid of some of their excess energy.

Molly goes well beyond what most people expect of a pet sitter. My animals are members of our family and spoiled rotten. She treats them like they are her own. I’m just not sure what we would do without her. All I can say is “Thank goodness for Molly!!!”

Molly has a special gift for winning the trust of animals, evidenced by her almost immediately winning over my “fractious” cat Meepers, who was so resistant to being handled that even my vet could not medicate her at the time! With Molly’s compassion and skill, Meepers became accustomed to receiving the fluids and medications she needed in order to enjoy her life as long as possible. (She lived to a ripe old age of 20!) Toward the end of Meepers’ life, she needed fluids daily, and I could not administer them because of a severe visual impairment. Molly was like a guardian angel to her and to me. She was – and is – the most committed, reliable, compassionate and skilled service provider I have ever encountered. She has consistently displayed a remarkable ability to maintain a balance of professionalism and caring through our many joys and sorrows, and I treasure her for that.

Molly still comes to check on my two older and three younger “special needs” cats once a week, and to perform tasks I cannot, such as trimming nails and cleaning ears. And she is always available for more visits as needed. She also takes care of the cats when I am away, and I never worry, because I know she will go above and beyond the call of duty for us.
